Enterprise 1

The enterprise a “38ft Aquastar”, has a 225 hp John Deere engine, with a max speed of 18 knots. TheEnterprise 1 has a full range of JRC electronics, it has full safety equipment, and comprises of a galley, toilet facilities and seating. The Enterprise 1 is licenced by the Department of the Marine to carry 12 passengers and 2 crew. There is also tea/coffee and light refreshments available.

Swilly Explorer

This interceptor 42 motor cruiser has a Scania 500 hp engine, with a maximum speed of 24 knots.The cabin is spacious and luxurious, and comprises of a galley, toilet and leads onto a large aft deck space. The Swilly Explorer has state of the art Furuno electronics and all up to date safety equipment. It is licenced by the Department of the Marine to carry up to 12 passengers and 2 crew

Over 30 species of sea fish are available in the Lough Swilly area. General fishing produces good catches of pollock, coalfish, cod, haddock, whiting and thornback ray. Lough Swilly is famous for the hard fighting tope which run the lough from May and average 30-40 lbs. Many 1st and 2nd world war wrecks lie just offshore from Rathmullan the nearest being the “Laurentic” in 120ft of water. Pollock, ling, coalfish and congar are plentiful here with a real chance of specimen sized fish. Blue shark appear in good numbers around the end of August and provide exciting sport.

Lough Swilly – (The Lake of Shadows) – is a sheltered sea lough stretching from its mouth at Fanad Head, inland some 25 miles to Letterkenny. A British navel base during both the world wars, Lough Swilly has a long and interesting history.

It is in this magnificent setting that Rathmullan Charters provide a variety of lough tours from sightseeing and historical tours to bird and seal watching and relaxing evening cruises.The boats will visit the site of “The Flight of the Earls” Dunree, Fanad Head lighthouse, Knockalla caves and Macamish fort and enjoy the spectacular scenery that is “Lough Swilly”

Rathmullan Charters also offer day trips to Tory island, a unique offshore island with some rare bird life and great views of the mainland.
